The world wide web article was an extremely informative article. It went in depth into the processes of the web without being using too much complicated terminology. Starting off with the common uses of the world wide web (W3) and then going into how it works.
One thing that I found particularly interesting was the purpose of the http. According to the article, the http is a simple request and respond protocol. It allows computers to communicate with servers and send and receive information. I always thought the http was just like some arbitrary acronym for something that didn’t really matter.
Another interesting part of the article was how they described the future of the internet. Since this article was written in 1994, it is incredible to see their predictions come true. There are many more purposes for the internet today, than just email. Having your own website is easy, online stores are all too common, and interfaces created online are very sophisticated. I can’t wait to see what else will come up in another fifteen years.

Hey Josh, let me just say I love how you post so early in the week. Get'er done! You are the most consitant at being posted week in and week out, way to go man.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wanted to say I agree with you on how informative the article was. I kept up with most of that stuff in the 90's (old guys rule!) and knew the http thing, but in my post I spoke of some stuff I learned.
Last, the 15 yr. comment, can't wait either! It'll be interesting to see where you youngsters that've grown up online take us next! Great post as always, ttyl my friend.
Hey Josh, me again. I wanted to add to your comments on my page about who can compete w/ Fb. MySpace thought they were the shiz and for a minute felt pretty indestructable...til Fb crushed them so completely. Someone'll do the same to Fb, eventually. If I had to guess, I'd say Skype. They need a lil more in-depth profile stuff and some catch-on effect. Even though they seem on deck here, they've basically already hit a home run around the world where folks have been using them for a few years now. Anyway, great write-ups as always, ttys.
ReplyDeleteJoshua,
ReplyDeleteGreat post (yet again!). As Sharxjay pointed out, it's so poignant of you to post on early, every week! This article had a lot of depth, and it was so dense full of information. I had no idea what the purpose of http was before reading this article, and upon going further into the article, I learned so much more about so many different aspects of the web that I had never thought about. You also mentioned the term W3, for world wide web, which was oddly entertaining to me as well! Overall, I really enjoyed reading all of your posts this week!

Any how, I like that you touched on the internet purposes of today. It’s true that they are so incredible! And now that internet is available on smart phones, it has made our lives so much easier. The other day for instance, I forgot to return a library book. I received an email; I simply clicked on the link and renewed it for another week! With a clique of a button I was able to avoid the hassle of a fee! Like, you, I can’t wait to see what other inventions to come will make our lives easier.
