Hey class. So I found it a bit challenging to find a topic that interested me highly about social media and that had a lot of relevant research. Since social media is a fairly new topic, scholarly articles and research is a real pain in the butt to find. Haha. Anyways, I hope you enjoy my topic and can relate to it.
Research Question:
How has user uploaded video websites impacted the society's communication and behavioral processes?
I picked this topic because I am an avid Youtube user. Anything from how to guides, videoblogs, or just random videos that are entertaining I love to watch. Yet I never thought of the countless videos on youtube as a way of communication. As I looked closer I realized that I was wrong. Youtube is a great way of broadcasting information, communicating through comments, video responses and countless other forms of interaction. Being able to analyze communication through the media of Youtube I hope to find out how it affects the way people communicate and how much impact it has on their communication and behavior.
Here’s a video I found of another student from a different university very vaguely explaining communication on Youtube.
I guess it would be fair to say….RATE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE! LOL! Chow for now!

I think your research topic is really interesting! I am also curious whether or not user uploading video websites impact on the society's communication and behavioral processes? I know that as college students, we are always on youtube.com looking for videos to watch in class, library, or free time. Remember that crazy girl Alexandra Wallace on youtube ranting about Asians being loud in the library? I think that video is a good example of how some people in society tries SO hard to make a humorous video that it actually came out offensive. Obviously, the behavior of this made her kicked herself out of UCLA haha I think if you analyze that video as part of your example for society's behavior, it would be interesting!
ReplyDeleteI do remember that video. Some people just want to much attention. There is countless representations of communication on YouTube, so it should be fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. :)
Hi Jossshhuaa,
ReplyDeleteI think you picked a great topic. The effects of user uploaded video on communication should be fascinating. I think the topic would fit well with many of the concepts we have read about. Particularly, this week our article on technomedia described the history of how we came to prioritized visual media. Our love of video could be tracked back to the invention of the printing press. However, You Tube combines audio and visual, so no wonder the communication medium is perfect for our communication senses. You probably didn’t pick the easiest topic, so I wish you luck. It’s such a relevant topic and I really look forward to reading what you find out!
Hi Jossshuaa,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your topic and I have always wondered how YouTube have impacted other people and how they communicate through videos. I am looking forward to see your results from your research since I am planning on creating my own videos and upload it on my blog and I would like to know how communication though videos will affect people. Maybe you could look into how other countries and different cultures are using YouTube as communication since I know that the videos that my friends in Sweden are different from the one's watched in the United States even if they are both in English. Good luck:)

Hello JOSHUUAA!
ReplyDeleteI think this topic is a great one to do research on and I am sure you will find a lot of information. Youtube is HUGE and after reading your post, I agree that it is a form of communication. It’s an exciting form of communication too because it has so much random, often times entertaining information. Justin Beieber is probably thanking who ever invented Youtube since his talent was discovered on the site. As you may know, he posted a number of videos and the right person saw and led him to stardom( my niece is 11 in case you were wondering how I knew this! Lol). Your topic sounds very interesting and I hope you have a lot of fun putting it together. Thanks for the video!!
